You thought it was a happy song.

Saw this performance last night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Such an interesting mix of theater, music, set, dance and acrobatics—I have never seen anything quite like it. The direction, set design and choreography were done by James Thierrée, who received the 2015 Next Wave award at the premiere last night. It’s running now through Oct. 4.

An interesting project conceptualized by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, and now promoted in a campaign by Heineken. Murphy says, “Rush hour, instead of being a nightmare, would suddenly become possibly the most beautiful time to be in the subway.”

This is incredible. I stumbled on the video because I just happened to hear the song and wanted to share it. NPR posted a process video:

A big fan of NPR’s tiny desk series, such an intimate and impromptu setting. A few worth checking out include Mucca Pazza (and its 23 band members, The National (possibly my favorite live band?), Sturgill Simpson (not ordinarily a fan of the country twang, but this caught my attention), and Daughter (if this is not the prettiest thing you ever heard, then I don’t know what.)

Music Jail, Pt 1&2

Where you going buddy? Where you going buddy?
Where you going buddy?
Won’t you come with me to music jail?

Where you going darlin’? Where you going darlin’?
Where you going darlin’?
Won’t you come with me to music jail?
Let’s form a band! Let’s take a stand!

Where you going fellah? Where you going fellah?
Where you going fellah?
Won’t you come with me to music jail?
Please say you’ll stay! Don’t turn away!?

I was not prepared to do time to do time
Franky I was scared about time about time
I was in a cloud. Everything so loud?
Life’s a riot. No one’s quiet at all?
